SITUATION
Commercial and agricultural equipment is subject to harsh conditions and repeated exposure to the elements, including moisture and the decay of organic material. Mower decks are no exception. In a short period of time, valuable equipment can rapidly rust, corrode and deteriorate. Maintenance, repair and ultimately the replacement of expensive equipment is costly. It also takes the equipment out of service causing down time for the owners.
The mower deck needed protection from rust and corrosion that would last season after season.

PROCEDURE
The mower deck was detached from the body of the equipment and taken to the local LINE-X store. Mower decks need to be aggregate blasted and primed with either LINE-X SP5-15 or XPM to enhance the mechanical bond and allow for a chemical bond. Once the primer flashed, LINE-X XS-350 was applied to the substrate at 125 mils (1/8th of an inch) for impact resistance, superior tensile strength and abrasion resistance. The entire process can be complete in one day providing the deck to be back in unrestricted use in 48 hours. |

SOLUTION
LINE-X XS-350, a pure polyurea, was applied to the underside of the mower deck following it being etched and primed.

RESULTS
After more than four years of rigorous use in an agricultural environment, LINE-X-XS-350 remains virtually intact. No rust. No Corrosion. No repairs or replacements required. In addition, the LINE-X coating helped prevent the buildup of grass and other debris on the underside of the deck. It also provided a noticeable noise reduction since the coating decreases the resonance of metal surfaces. |
