SITUATION
The laydown area on the oil rig was experiencing massive problems with its Fire Protective Paint (FPP). The FFP was chipped and heavily damaged by the constant loading and unloading of containers.
Fire protection is crucial to the company's operations since the laydown area was above huge gas generators.
SOLUTION
LINE-X® XS-100 was sprayed 5 mm (1/4 inch) thick onto the Fire Protective Paint (FPP) with tenacious adhesion. Rescue exits were painted yellow immediately after spraying the LINE-X to get the best adhesion possible. The job was completed in 12 hours and back in service in 1 hour with almost no change in daily operations of the area.
RESULTS TO DATE
The laydown was sprayed with LINE-X in the summer of 2005. Without LINE-X, it would have been necessary to re-spray this area at least six times by now.
Company D has chosen LINE-X for this area to get the strongest possible protection of their Fire Protective Paint and also to keep recoating time to a minimum.
